It was a cold midnight at sea, and passengers were dancing in the grand salon when one man saw disaster looming. “Iceberg…straight ahead.” They called the RMS Titanic unsinkable, and more than 2,000 souls bet their lives on it. They were all coming to America–the hopeful ladies’ maids from Ireland, the staff of the White Star Line, and the cream of society. Both Titanic: The Musical and the James Cameron film were inspired by the discovery of the sunken R.M.S. Titanic in 1985. The film centered on a fictitious romance. Maury Yeston (Music and Lyrics) and Peter Stone (Book) wrote the musical based on many real-life characters, and then explored the question that remains with us to this day: “Why did it happen?”

The musical was the surprise Broadway hit of 1997, and garnered a total of 5 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical. The Muny’s production boasts a cast of more than 38 performers, and full orchestra of 26 members. Directing the musical is Don Stephenson, an original Titanic: The Musical Broadway cast member and a New York director. The Musical Director is Kevin Stites, who also conducted the original Broadway production.

Tickets are available at The Muny Box Office in Forest Park seven days a week from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, at all MetroTix outlets, or by calling (314) 534-1111 and charging tickets to MasterCard, American Express, Discover or VISA. There is a convenience charge added to the ticket price on MetroTix phone orders and at all MetroTix locations. Ticket prices: Center and Side Boxes, $66.00; Terrace A (Rows A-M), $47.00; Terrace A (Rows N-Y), $39.00; Terrace B (Rows A-M), $28.00; Terrace B (Rows N-Y), $18.00; and Terrace C, $9.00.

Coupons are available in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and at area Schnucks locations for $5.00 off closing night (Sunday) tickets in Terrace A and B. There is a limit of ten (10) tickets per coupon. Coupons may be redeemed only at The Muny Box Office in Forest Park.
