Internship Overview

The Muny is the nation’s largest outdoor musical theatre, celebrating its 95th summer season in 2013. In a ten-week period, The Muny produces seven musical theatre productions. This summer, internship positions will be granted to college and graduate students wishing to pursue a career in theatrical production, stage management, direction/choreography, music direction, as well as scenic, costume, lighting or sound design.

Qualifications for All Internships

Internships are for the entire Muny summer season, and all applicants must be available from June 1 through      August 11, 2013. Preference will be given to college or graduate students majoring in theatre. Strong entrepreneurial aptitude, organizational and personal skills are necessary, and a minimum GPA of 2.75 is required to apply. All interns will need to bring their own laptops, and be fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as programs specific to internships as noted. Work will be of a wide variety, and flexibility is necessary.

Rewards

The rewards of the program are in a large part determined by the individual. They will be working with professional actors, directors, choreographers, stage managers, designers, producers, technical crews and managerial personnel. They will have "hands-on" opportunity to participate in seven professional musical theatre productions during an intensive, demanding summer at America's largest outdoor musical theatre. This program can act as a gateway toward a career in professional theatre and answer questions about how to pursue it.
