Rodgers and Hammerstein's captivating and timeless East-meets-West musical treasure includes "Something Wonderful," "Shall We Dance?" and "Getting to Know You."

Cultures collide as Anna struggles to find her place in the exotic Siamese world of beauty and grand tradition, ruled by a King whom she must learn to serve and understand.

Kevin Gray, playing The King of Siam, returns to The Muny after previously playing the Engineer in Miss Saigon (2001). Making her Muny debut as Anna Leonowens is Laura Michelle Kelly. Rounding out the cast are Joan Almedilla as Lady Thiang, Joshua Dela Cruz as Lun Tha, and Alan Ariano as the Kralahome.

Swashbuckling pirates! A curse! Caribbean comedy!

The Muny premiere of Pirates! (or, Gilbert & Sullivan Plunder'd) is a new version of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance. The spirit and songs of the original have been revamped within a rousing and riotous Caribbean setting that supplies greater adventure, bigger laughs and non-stop entertainment. The Muny will be presenting the fourth U.S. production of this exciting show!

Hunter Foster makes his Muny debut as the Pirate King. Joining him is Broadway veteran Ed Dixon as General Stanley, and Kathy Fitzgerald as Ruth. Rounding out the cast are Alan Mingo Jr. as The Sergeant, Analisa Leaming as Mabel, and Jay Armstrong Johnston as Frederic.

Pirates! (or, Gilbert & Sullivan Plunder'd) is directed by Gordon Greenberg.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat

July 23 - 29

A generational favorite of many musical colors!

Children of all ages know the Old Testament story of Jacob, his twelve sons, and the amazing adventures of his 11th son, Joseph. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice originally wrote a children's oratorio that has, in time, expanded into a beloved classic. This production will be the first at The Muny to use the orchestrations and changes that were developed for the highly successful West End production in London.

Justin Guarini returns to The Muny to play Joseph, after his critically-acclaimed performance in Chicago. Joining him will be Broadway sensation Mamie Parris as the Narrator. TV and stage veteran Austin Miller will rock the house as Pharoah.

Justin Guarini To Star At The Muny

Broadway sensation and recording artist Justin Guarini will captivate St. Louis audiences when he stars in The Muny's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat, July 23 - 29. This will be Justin's Muny debut.

"I'm thrilled to be playing the role of Joseph," commented Justin. "Being able to do it in front of 11,000 people every night, outside and under the stars, is truly magical. I'm honored to be part of the history and tradition of The Muny."

Muny Executive Producer Mike Isaacson stated, "When I saw Justin in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown on Broadway, I knew I wanted to bring him to the Muny stage. I'm so excited to bring his talent, energy and magnetism to Joseph. People may know Justin only as a recording artist, but after seeing him on the Muny stage, they will see why he is an up-and-coming Broadway star."

 

Dreamgirls

July 16 - 22

Winner of six Tony® awards and two Oscars®, Dreamgirls follows the story of an all-girl singing trio from Chicago called the Dreams. Based on the show biz stories of the 1960s R&B acts like the Supremes and James Brown, Dreamgirls portrays the heartbreak and challenges of breaking new ground, both musically and socially, and how family and friendships triumph and last through all the trials.

Dreamgirls features a blockbuster score and the landmark song "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" with book and lyrics by Tom Eyen, and music by Henry Krieger.

Tony® and Grammy® Award-winner Jennifer Holliday will reprise her legendary Broadway performance of Effie White. Joining her will be Demetria McKinney as Deena, Jenelle Lynn Randall as Lorrell, Muny veteran Ken Page as Marty, Christopher Jackson as Curtis, Milton Craig Nealy as Jimmy, Karla Mosely as Michelle, and Tommar Wilson as C.C.

Dreamgirls is directed by Robert Clater, and choreographed by Lesia Kaye.

Jennifer Holliday To Star At The Muny

Tony® and Grammy Award winner Jennifer Holliday will reprise her legendary Broadway performance of Effie White in The Muny's premiere production of Dreamgirls, July 16 - 22. Jennifer will be making her Muny debut, on this, the 30th anniversary of the show's Broadway production.

"Dreamgirls will forever hold a very special place in my heart," Holliday commented. "I am honored and thrilled to reprise my role at the Historic Muny Theater. It's a wonderful opportunity for me to bring Effie back to life yet again and to sing under the stars before 11,000 people each and every night. A great testimony to the fact that it's never too late to dare to dream new dreams."

According to Executive Producer Mike Isaacson, "The Muny audience will be astounded by the talent of Jennifer Holliday. The explosive power of her voice on the Muny stage is a fitting tribute to the 30th anniversary of this landmark musical and the Muny’s tradition of iconic musical theatre under the stars."

Merry murderesses Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly electrify the grand Muny stage! This Tony®- and Oscar®-winning international smash hit tells a jazzy tale of how murder can feed celebrity. Number one pick on the Muny survey for years, Chicago features extraordinary choreography and a brilliant score by Kander and Ebb.

Broadway sensations Patti Murin and Natascia Diaz star as Roxy Hart and Velma Kelly. Justin Guarini as Billy Flynn joins them. Also appearing are Jackie Hoffman as Mama Morton, Patti Cohenour as Mary Sunshine and Dean Christopher as Amos Hart.

Chicago is directed and choreographed by Denis Jones.

All performances begin at 8:15pm and end at approximately 10:40pm.
